Ink Technician

Position Overview:
Prioritize all customer orders, dispense respective ink formulas, and provide finished inks to presses and/or staging area in a timely mannerQuality check all initial job start-ups on press with a spectral toolMake initial ink, adjust until color specification is achieved then provide ink
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Ink Technician will:
Line up and have ink available for each 24-hour period at each machine center.
Utilize the ink blending system to formulate Flexo ink and keep inventory of all inks and bases.
Monitor pH and viscosity of all inks and record them.
Work with ink suppliers and GBP Sales representatives to coordinate colors.
Reorder inks and bases as needed.
Work with press crews to continuously improve our product and processes i.
e.
, additives, vendors.
Manage anilox rolls and monitor wear and tear.
Set up anilox roll cleanings.
Schedule anilox roll PM's and changes.
Update color swatch books as needed at the press machines.
Manage the Die Mounter positions in the plantThis includes but is not limited to evaluations, hold meetings present safety, plant, and environmental information.
Hours of Work:
Attendance at all scheduled hours and overtime hours is an essential function of this positionRegular workday for this position 8 hours per dayHowever, you may be required to stay beyond the regular scheduled daily hours to satisfy customer needsMay be required to work some weekends.
Work Environment - essential to the job:
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; high or low precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibrationThe noise level in the work environment is loud and hearing protection is always required while in the production area
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GEDExperience Requirements- 2 years' experience in manufacturing required or an ink related field.
First- Aid / CPR preferred.
Language Skills - Ability to read and understand EnglishAble to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write reports and correspondence.
Mathematical skills - Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rateAble to apply concepts of high school math.
Reasoning skills - Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic formAble to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Computer skills - Familiar with Microsoft Office products and software that produce manufacturing schedules, color matching software, and management of inventory.
